Zero Gravity Replacement Instructions

Please note the new laces are stronger and do not have to be double laced. Because they are stronger, they are also shorter. If you attempt to double lace your chair (except as indicated) you will not have enough lacing to replace your chair.

Your replacement kit will consist of 15 feet total of bungee cord for one chair; you will need to measure so that you have:

For a regular size chair (There are 29 grommets on one side of the chair from top to bottom.) Please start at the bottom with one of the longer laces and lace through each grommet once. The only grommet you will double lace is the 9th grommet from the bottom of the chair. Please pull your lacing taut as you go through each grommet, so there is not any slack. When you have laced the legs and seat and reach the end of your lace, please continue up the back of the chair with the shorter lace. It is easiest to lace one side of the chair at a time.

For an extra large size chair (The extra large size has 30 grommets on one side of the chair from top to bottom.) Please start at the bottom with one of the longer laces and lace through each grommet once. The only grommet you will double lace is the 10th grommet from the bottom of the chair. Please pull your lacing taut as you go through each grommet, so there is not any slack. When you have laced the legs and seat and reach the end of your lace, please continue up the back of the chair with the shorter lace. It is easiest to lace one side of the chair at a time.

We do not have the end pieces that go on your bungee cord to secure them through the grommet. We are in the process of designing and will be making 1,000s in the near future.  We have sold by 100s of these kits. Most people simply tie a knob on the end of the bungee cord where it goes through the grommet. Other people have put the bungee through a washer and then tied a knot. Even smarter people, like our customer's comments below, salvaged the original holding clips and reused them.  The possibilities are endless. If you have an idea until we can have these made, let us know.

If you have information on how to lace a LaFuma Zero Gravity Chair that would be helpful or easier, we would appreciate you sharing with us so that we can pass it on to other people. Relax and enjoy!

Comments and Advise from Some Of Our Customers:

I just re-did one of my Gravity Chairs using your kit.  I used wire ties to secure the ends since I didn’t have or want to purchase special tools.  I just doubled up the ends and wire tied them.  I used a pair of hemostats to secure the line as I went so I would not lose the tension as I went and this is a huge helper for anyone doing this.  You could use vice grips too.

My Chair has 30 grommets per side.  I used the cord full length for the two bottom sides and ended up with 5’ of cord left over to do the tops.  When done I had maybe 5” left over having done all four sections with the rest.  Nice job on length!  So my findings are you need two 5’ lengths for the bottom and two 2 ˝’ lengths for the tops.

Hope this helps you guys…now to see about the other chair…

 Thanks!

I have to say that I am very impressed. After calling you yesterday about an order I received for two of your zero gravity repair kits (one of the two cords was 5' short), I was astounded to find a replacement cord in today's mail! And a hand-written apology. You have made me an enthusiastic and appreciative customer.

FWIW, I have been puzzled by emails on other sites (including Amazon) from people who have ordered such kits, complaining about the the extreme difficulties they are having with their chair repairs. I am 70, with two mildly arthritic thumbs, and I found it very quick and easy to keep modest tension on the cords as I thread them through the grommets and brackets. The first one I installed, I wound up with over a foot of cord remaining; I guess all the complaints about running short made me pull the cord too tight. Subsequent repairs, with less tension, were no sweat. I've even salvaged the holding clips from the busted cords I was replacing to use on the replacements. That adapting took longer than the lacing!

What I do have is a dog bed made like a gravity chair.

I used all but 18" of cord in the kit and have received rave reviews from the primary user.

My Corgi loves this bed so much I have to bungee cord the bed to the wood stove so he doesn't launch it through the sliding glass door when he uses it for a trampoline.

Thanks for giving back his favorite indoor activity.

The old original cord lasted only about a year.

Compared to your cord, whimpy, whimpy, whimpy.  It will be interesting to see what goes next.

Your service is A1, lightning fast, thanks so much, I've attached some photos just for grins,  have a great day.
