Have you ever had the line on your reel jump the spool and
get jammed between the spool and the frame?

 What did you do?  *$#!T$#!T*!

We can help...

With our reels, if your line should jump your spool and get caught between the frame and spool, you can back off the tensioning device until the spool module separates from the frame.

Your jam is now gone and you can clear any line and reinstall the spool onto your frame. This can be done underwater with cold water gloves or mitts.

With practice, this procedure can be achieved in less than a minute.

The Survivor Reel and Long Island Reel Series™ are our best selling reels. They are the only reels that uses Spool Modules, Advanced Anti-free Spooling and the most reliable User Adjustable Tension Technology.

Spool Modules:

  • Our spool modules can be separated from the frame in case of jamming as shown in the above picture.

  • It also gives you the option of switching out different size line spools for different applications.

  • For example:  If you are using a spool module with #48 line for a wreck dive and you will be going on a cave next week, you can switch to a #24 line spool module in seconds.

  • Just imagine buying one reel you can use for many different types of dives.

User Adjustable Tension Technology:

  • It is important to be able to adjust your spool tension settings at any given time.

  • Our reels allow you to adjust the tension by simply turning  the tension adjustment knob.

  • You have complete control of your own tension capability.

  • You can set the tension to a light drag for normal line operation or adjust to a hard drag for lift bag deployment.

  • If you prefer not to use the tension adjustment, you can set it to no drag.

  • Cave divers prefer to use the two-finger method versus tension.

Advanced Anti-free Spooling:

  • This feature lets you control the free spinning of the spool.
  • An example would be deploying a lift bag.  When the lift bag hits the surface and the line stops deploying, the spool will stop spinning instantly and automatically prevent backlash.

The Assembly of Our Reels

First,  there is the tension axel/knob assembly.

The axel/knob assembly slides into the spool module and is secured with a nylon washer and spool retainer ring to prevent the spool module from slipping off underwater if separated. spoolwasher.jpg (11125 bytes)
This makes up the spool module assembly with the desired line length and strength plus the winding knob.

The spool module assembly is attached to the frame by screwing
the spool module into the stainless steel tension disk on the frame.

Please note: All of the different components of our reels can be purchased separately to ADD to your existing reel.  We supply extra modules, rope, small and large winding knobs, small and large tension knobs. Extra parts like washers, o-rings, and "spare part kits" are provided for you free.
